U.F.F. Approves of "Tighty Whities"

Happy Labor Day H-Gamers,

If the world makes any sense you have today off, Thankfully the shack keeper does and has been looking forward to this for the past month.

The Bad news: The regular daily grind "Work" is as busy as it's ever been!

The Good news: Still working on the game, and made a few decisions about the future of the finished game.

U.F.F Update

Here we are after a rough couple of weeks, but pushing through the barriers one by one. Since deciding to make U.F.F. I have taken time out from time to time to learn Ruby (as with everything else in the indie game world, I am as fresh off the boat as they come)

Great! free resources have been:

https://rubymonk.com/ and http://www.codecademy.com/learn

But I have been forced to come to terms with my limitations, In order to keep the game on track to being as close to the original deadline as possible I have decided to opt of of doing all the customized coding. Lucky there are a number of people alive and very active in the rpgmaker vx ace community and I reached out to Galv after checking 1 or 2 codes I would like to use.

Note: Nothing I am shooting for requires much effort for a real coder, so with this problem solved it will add some needed spice to U.F.F. The shack keeper is always keeping KISS in mind. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Galv a special thanks to you! and of course you'll be noted in the credits, as per your usage terms, for both.
It's worth noting Galv has a large assortment of scripts available to anyone as long as the terms per each are followed. Which tend to be extremely reasonable.

Here's a look at a test using the new menu layout "script" and Guy looking Naked and Confused!

"Melon" Penciling, Inking, and Final Color Indie Game Test for U.F.F

Welcome to The Melon Shack, H-Gamers!
I would have to say this is a bit of a special posting.

In this weeks posting I thought I would take a detour from the average progression updates and talk/show off the steps The Shack Keeper will take to make the final game cg look.

I had the opportunity between the regular life grind to play around with , "Melon". (Spokesmodel for, "The Melon Shack"). It's been awhile since we had a post involving her and she was feeling left out. Here's a test I ran though with her this week to try and finalize the approach to the final look of the CG's in U.F.F, a step by step inside look at what the Shack keeper does in the Shack:

  • 1st - We start out with a -Rough Sketch- of the chosen image/scene. (and I do mean rough, unless you plan on using your pencils work in the final project no reason to waste time cleaning up your lines )

    • 2nd - Inking-  this is where my clean up happens. There are many options when it comes to inking, The shack keeper grew up inking with old fashioned pen and paper (ink and brush, rapidograph pens, crow quills, etc) in present day, it's all about the computer and your trusty Wacom Tablet. The program I bought and currently use for the game is an older version on Manga Studio.

    • 3rd -Base Color- color it in. Choose your palette for your characters and always use those colors unless your adopting the character to fit a certain type of lighting situation.

    • 4th - Shadowing- there's only so much to say, about this step, get a general idea of the light source in your head and color it in. With that said it's important to be happy with your shading in the end, everything else flows easier if this is right.

    • 5th -Highlights- Throw in some shine and detail, your work will thank you for it. Again remain aware of your imaginary light source.

    • 6th and final step. -Soften it up-  When inking I'll keep the face, hair, clothing, and skin on separate layers. This will allow me to achieve a softer look easier, simply by selecting my lines and changing the colors. More or less, This will be the end Goal for the CG's images for U.F.F. If I can get the game to look a sharp and clean as, "Melon" here, I'll be very satisfied for the finished look of my first garage house indie title.

And that's that. I hope you enjoyed the inside look as much as I enjoyed playing with, "Melon" ^_~.

    Cheers,

Boss Girls Levels 6,7,and 8 Revealed!

Good Afternoon! H-Fans on another great weekend.

It's Sunday afternoon, and I had a half days grind, as opposed to a full day with unpaid overtime, on Friday so currently feeling pretty good.
I have been able to tend to long over due work (non-game related) on the shack as well as work on U.F.F. over night.

    U.F.F. Update

not much to report on other than 3 more profile face sets later we have boss girl reveals for higher levels!!! The melons are pleased.

Introducing: level 6 boss Lilith, "Dino half-bread", Level 7 boss Pine, "Leaf girl", and Level 8 boss Mira, "Female Minotaurus".

Even with the ongoing overloaded regular life grind schedule The melon shack is back on track  not skipping this week! Did I just jinx myself, only time will tell.
You now may continue with your weekend.

    Cheers,

    U.F.F. Levels 3, 4 and 5 Boss Girls

Good evening to all the H-Gamers out there.

The Shack Keeper keeper is pushing forward with game on this Saturday evening. Needless to say work is still a problem. Overly time consuming and draining.

    U.F.F. Update

Face sets are going very smoothly. another 5 sets to go then more than likely on to common enemy designs for each level.

In this weeks update I am proud to present the U.F.F. Bosses for Levels 3, 4, and 5. ALSO KNOWN AS: Bleak "Harpy", Brandy "Puppy-Girl", and our "Divine Swine" GiGi.

U.F.F. Boss Girls Bleak, Brandy and Gigi

No more full face sets we need to leave something to the imagination but 3 more boss girl face reveals, at once, I think more than makes up for it.

    Cheers,
    The Shack Keeper
