Animating at The Shack

Good evening and welcome to the Shack on the best of nights,

By best I mean it's Friday night. It's hard to get further away from Monday morning than right now.

The Shack Keeper has to Leave the shack int he morning and do a half days grind on Saturday, with that said I should be able to complete level 4's elements by tomorrow night, and that leaves Sunday open for building level 5 if all goes smooth.

I had a bit of time after getting home today and starting thinking about things I would like to see in U.F.F. not the least of which being a very short animation intro in the beginning. When it comes to the game I am only one person, and along with this being my first game, there's alot of time that's tough to account for do to stopping and learning and when needed practicing. With that said, could I even pull off the animation to a level that I would be satisfied with? If i ended up half ass-ing it, THEN it just wouldn't be worth the time or trouble.

Luckily! our very own Melon Girl "spokes model for the Melon Shack" was more than happy to do a test run with me.

Melon Girl Test Run

(This has 6 frames all of which were drawn using manga studio)

  • Melon girl Test Run will be colored in eventually (Even I want to see that micro bikini colored in :P)
  • I would like to add the tweens to double the amount of frames,  but since this isn't needed for the game, it's very time consuming, and was a test for fun, it's best to stop here

I haven't animated anything since my school days and I took only one class in basic animation but the test leads me to believe it's possible. Don't put your money down on this intro happening though. Not until all levels are, designed built, and events have been programmed/scripted in. (every step of which is a first for the shack keeper)

There are 3 things we need to keep in mind:

  1. -The minimum the Game needs to function and be considered done
  2. -What I would like to do
  3. -What I can do given my knowledge and the time-frame
I'm still shooting for that Dec. 2014 release.

Till Next Weekend
Cheers,
The Shack Keeper
